VoIP Phone Services

There are two main types of VoIP phone services the computer-based or the phone-based.

A free VoIP Broadband Service which is computer-based is also known as a "soft phone" or "net phone" system.

With a computer based VoIP phone service you will need to;- switch your computer on; install your VoIP software; setup an online account with a provider; plug in a voip headset to the computer; find access numbers of your friends and family; use the software to see if the person you want to call is online; initiate the call using the software; chat for free.

The main restriction with a computer-based VoIP service is that you must be running the same software as the person you are calling.

However, it is easy to setup and install.

With a phone-based VoIP Service you will need to:- setup an account and access number with a provider; connect up an analog phone adapter; connect your existing phone to it; connect in a broadband router or VoIP router; the you can dial any number; chat at reduced prices or maybe free if with the same provider.

The advantage of a phone-based VoIP service is that you can phone anyone at any time. An additional benefit is that the line quality is superior using the phone-based service to the computer-based service.

Though the phone-based service can be a little more complicated to set up.
