VoIP Satellite Phone

Until recently a satellite phone was hugely expensive and not very reliable - how quickly new technology changes things.

If you've never heard of a VoIP Satellite Phone, then you are in for a pleasant surprise - satellite internet phone will change the way you make long distance calls forever.

VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, or Internet Phone is a technology for changing analog audio signals (like the sound you hear when you talk on the phone)into digital data. This digital data can then be sent over the Internet. Thus enabling you to use the phone over the internet and by passing your phone company.

Satellite VoIP or Satellite internet phone takes this a step further and can create a standard satellite Internet connection into a way to place phone calls.

If you already have a satellite system for the internet then all you need is some special VoIP software that will enable Internet phone calls. And you will then be able to make very cheap and in some cases free phone calls without paying your phone company.

Satellite VoIP would appear to be very efficient and reports far fewer errors then other VoIP systems.

Another advantage to satellite internet phone is that there is no need for any additional hardware. Once you have your satellite system in place it is only additional software to implement your phone.

Most satellite internet providers will now support VoIP. Though options and pricing do vary, so it may be worth shopping around.

Some things to consider when choosing a provider are:-

• Do they multiple lines per account?
• What is their back-up phone like for emergencies?
• Do they offer Free calls between people that use their service?
• Can you make multiple calls at once and conference call?
• Can you receive calls from other satellite phone providers?
• Can you create contact lists?
• Is the setup instant?
