VoIP Phone System

There are two main types of VoIP phone systems the free or the paid.

A Free voice over ip phone system which is computer-based and is also known as a "soft phone" or "net phone".

With a free VoIP phone system the setup is:-

• Switch on your computer
• Plug in headset microphone and headphones to the computer
• Install your VoIP software
• Setup an online account with a provider
• Gather and store access numbers of your friends and family
• Use the software to see if the person you want to call is online
• Start the call using the software
• Have a Chat for Free

The main constraint with a free voice over ip phone system is that you must be running the same software as the person you are calling.

However, it is easy to setup and install.

With a paid phone-based Voice over Internet Protocol Phone System the setup is:-

• Contact a provider and setup an access account and number
• Connect your existing phone
• Connect a analog phone adapter
• Connect a broadband router
• Dial any number
• Chat at reduced prices or maybe free if with the same provider

This can be a little more complicated to set up, however there are heaps of resources designed to assist.

The advantage of a phone-based VoIP system is that you can phone anyone. And the other bonus is that the line quality is superior to the free computer-based system.
